About

A Natural History of Birds was written by Eleazar Albin, a naturalist and artist who lived in England in the 18th century. The book was first published in 1731 and was one of the earliest comprehensive studies of birds. It is divided into two volumes and contains over 200 beautifully illustrated plates of birds, many of which were drawn from life by Albin himself.

Albin's book was significant because it was one of the first to focus on the natural history of birds rather than just their classification. It was also one of the first to use illustrations as a way of identifying and studying birds, and Albin's drawings were highly influential in the development of ornithology.

Despite its age, A Natural History of Birds is still highly regarded by ornithologists and bird enthusiasts today. It provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of birds as it was understood in the 18th century, and its illustrations remain highly valued for their accuracy and beauty.
