Lorenz Stoer, also known as Lorenz Stör the Elder, was a German Renaissance painter and engraver who lived from 1510 to 1571. He was born in Munich, Germany and is known for his religious paintings and engravings, which were highly detailed and often featured complex compositions.

Stoer began his career as an apprentice to a goldsmith, but he later became a pupil of the famous German painter Albrecht Altdorfer. He was heavily influenced by the Northern Renaissance style, and his paintings and engravings often featured intricate landscapes and detailed architectural elements.

Stoer's work was highly regarded during his lifetime, and he was known for his technical skill and attention to detail. He died in Munich in 1571, but his legacy as a talented painter and engraver continues to be celebrated by art historians and enthusiasts.

He wrote Geometria et Perspectiva in 1567, which was intended to teach artists and architects about the principles of geometry and perspective. The book features detailed illustrations and diagrams, as well as practical instructions for applying these principles in painting and architecture.

Stoer's Geometria et Perspectiva was an important contribution to the field of art and architecture, as it helped to standardize the use of perspective and geometry in these fields. It was also an important tool for artists and architects who were interested in creating more realistic and accurate depictions of the world around them.
