About

Charles Courtney Curran (1861-1942) was an American painter known for his impressionist style and his depictions of women in outdoor settings. He was born in Kentucky and studied art at the Cincinnati School of Design and the National Academy of Design in New York City.

Curran was heavily influenced by the French impressionist style of painting, and he spent several years in Paris studying and working alongside other artists. His paintings often featured young women in natural settings, such as gardens, fields, and beaches, and he was known for his use of light and color to capture the mood and atmosphere of the scene.

Curran's work was well-received during his lifetime, and he was a member of several prestigious art organizations, including the National Academy of Design, the Society of American Artists, and the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
