Antonio Allegri da Correggio (c. 1489-1534) was an Italian painter of the High Renaissance period. He was born in Correggio, a town in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, and spent much of his career working in the nearby city of Parma.

Correggio's work is known for its sensuality and its emphasis on movement and color. He was a master of illusionistic perspective, and his work often includes intricate, highly-detailed compositions that create a sense of depth and three-dimensionality. His most famous works include the dome of the Parma Cathedral, which features a monumental fresco of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and the painting Jupiter and Io, which depicts the mythological love affair between the king of the gods and a mortal woman.

Correggio's work was highly influential in the development of Baroque art, and his style had a profound impact on the work of artists such as Rubens and Rembrandt.
