About

Eclogae Plantarum Rariorum aut Minus Cognitarum is a botanical publication by Joseph Franz Freiherr von Jacquin, a prominent Austrian botanist, and was published in 1811. The book is written in Latin and is focused on describing and illustrating rare and less familiar plants from various regions of the world.

The publication contains descriptions of plants, each accompanied by a detailed illustration created by von Jacquin himself. The illustrations are considered to be some of the finest examples of botanical art from the period and were produced using the then-recently developed technique of lithography.

Von Jacquin's descriptions of the plants are highly detailed and include information about their physical characteristics, growth habits, and medicinal properties. The book was considered an important reference work for botanists and plant collectors of the time and remains a valuable resource for researchers today.
