About

Report of the State Botanist on Edible Fungi of New York 1895-99 is a report by Charles Horton Peck, who served as the State Botanist of New York from 1867 to 1914. The report was published in 1900 and covers Peck's findings on the edible fungi of New York State from 1895 to 1899.

The report contains detailed descriptions of various edible mushroom species found in New York, including information on their morphology, habitat, and distribution. Peck also provides information on the historical uses of mushrooms in cooking and medicine, as well as instructions on how to properly identify and prepare edible mushrooms.

Peck was a prominent mycologist and botanist who made significant contributions to the study of fungi in the United States. He was particularly interested in the taxonomy and identification of mushrooms, and his publications helped to establish the scientific basis of mycology in the United States.
