About

"Twenty-five nudes" is a portfolio of wood engravings created by the English artist Eric Gill. The portfolio was first published in 1938 and features 25 black and white woodcut prints of nude figures, both male and female.

Eric Gill was a prolific artist, sculptor, and typographer, who was associated with the Arts and Crafts movement in England. He was known for his figurative works, which often depicted the human form in a simplified, stylized manner. Gill was also a controversial figure, due to his personal life and beliefs, including his support of the eugenics movement.

The wood engravings in "Twenty-five nudes" are executed in Gill's characteristic style, with bold lines and simplified forms. The figures are depicted in a variety of poses, from standing and reclining to dancing and embracing. Despite the subject matter, the prints are not overtly sexual or titillating, but rather convey a sense of natural beauty and harmony.
