About

Ethel Reed was an American artist and graphic designer who lived from 1874 to 1912. She was known for her elegant, Art Nouveau-inspired illustrations and her innovative approach to graphic design.

Reed's work was characterized by its flowing lines, delicate curves, and organic forms. She often depicted women in her illustrations, and her designs were noted for their femininity and grace. Some of her most famous works include illustrations for books such as "The Yellow Book" and "Chap-Book."

In addition to her work as an illustrator, Reed was also a graphic designer, and she was one of the first designers to work exclusively with typography and layout. She experimented with different typefaces and layouts, creating designs that were both beautiful and functional.

Despite her success as an artist and designer, Reed's career was relatively short-lived. She suffered from poor health and retired from the art world at a young age. Her work was largely forgotten for many years, but has since been rediscovered and recognized as an important contribution to the Art Nouveau movement.
