Galien-Laloue began his career as a painter of military subjects, but he later turned his attention to landscapes and cityscapes. He was particularly interested in capturing the atmosphere and energy of Paris, and his paintings often depicted bustling streets, lively markets, and elegant boulevards. He also painted scenes from the French countryside, capturing the beauty of rural life and the changing seasons.

He often worked in a Impressionist style, using loose brushstrokes and bright, vivid colors to capture the light and atmosphere of his subjects.
