About

Félix Vallotton (1865-1925) was a Swiss painter and printmaker associated with the Post-Impressionist movement. He was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, and studied at the Académie Julian in Paris.

Vallotton's works were characterized by their use of flat, simplified forms and strong, bold colors. He was known for his depictions of everyday life, often depicting scenes of domesticity and bourgeois leisure. He was also a skilled printmaker, and his works in this medium often featured sharp, graphic lines and dramatic contrasts between light and dark.

Vallotton was also a member of Les Nabis, a group of artists who sought to bring a spiritual dimension to their art. His works often featured religious and allegorical themes, and he was known for his use of symbolism and allegory.

Today, Vallotton is recognized as one of the most important Swiss artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His innovative use of color and form, as well as his interest in the psychological dimensions of his subjects, have made him an important figure in the history of modern art.
