About

Frederick Frieseke was an American Impressionist painter who lived from 1874 to 1939. He was known for his depictions of outdoor scenes, particularly women in gardens and on the beach, and is considered one of the leading figures of the American Impressionist movement.

Frieseke studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later in Paris, where he was heavily influenced by the French Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Frieseke's paintings are characterized by their vibrant colors, soft brushwork, and attention to light and atmosphere.

Frieseke's paintings were widely exhibited and collected during his lifetime and he received numerous awards and honors for his work. He was also a member of several influential artist societies, including the National Academy of Design and the Society of American Artists.
