Hashiguchi Goyō (1880-1921) was a Japanese artist and printmaker known for his elegant and refined depictions of women during the early 20th century. He was one of the leading artists of the shin-hanga ("new print") movement, which sought to revive traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques while incorporating modern subject matter and aesthetics.

Goyō was born in the city of Kagoshima, in southern Japan, and began his career as a student of the ukiyo-e artist Kaburagi Kiyokata. He later studied under the master printmaker Shinsui Ito, who would become a major influence on his work.

Goyō's prints of women are characterized by a delicate, refined approach to line and color, and a keen attention to detail. He often depicted women in traditional dress or engaged in everyday activities, such as bathing or arranging their hair. His prints are known for their elegant simplicity and serene beauty.

Unfortunately, Goyō's career was cut short by his premature death at the age of 41. However, his work continues to be highly regarded and influential in the world of Japanese art, and his prints are highly sought after by collectors and art lovers around the world.
