About
Pomona Italiana is a collection of botanical illustrations of fruit trees and other plants native to Italy, published between 1817 and 1839. The work was authored by Italian horticulturist and artist Giorgio Gallesio, who dedicated his life to the study and cultivation of fruit trees. The illustrations in Pomona Italiana are highly detailed and accurate, and include information on the history, cultivation, and uses of each plant. The work was considered a landmark achievement in the field of horticulture and had a significant influence on the development of modern fruit cultivation in Italy. Gallesio's work on Pomona Italiana was interrupted by his death in 1839, and the final volumes were completed by his son, Federico Gallesio.
