Johann Georg van Caspel was a Dutch painter and graphic artist who lived from 1870 to 1928. He was born in Rotterdam and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in that city.

Van Caspel was a versatile artist who worked in a variety of styles, including impressionism and art nouveau. He was particularly known for his paintings of cityscapes, landscapes, and still lifes. His works often featured bright colors and a strong sense of light and atmosphere.

In addition to his paintings, van Caspel also worked as a graphic artist, designing posters and book covers. He was associated with the Nieuwe Kunst (New Art) movement in the Netherlands, which aimed to create a modern and distinctive style of art and design.

Van Caspel's work was exhibited widely during his lifetime, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Today, his paintings and prints can be found in the collections of several museums, including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
