About
Kikukawa Eizan (1787-1867) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist known for his prints of beautiful women (bijin-ga) during the late Edo period. He was a member of the Kikukawa school of ukiyo-e, which specialized in prints of actors and beautiful women.
Eizan was born in Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and began his career as a student of the artist Kikukawa Eiji, who was his father. He later changed his name to Eizan and established his own unique style, which was characterized by a refined, delicate approach to line and color.
Eizan's prints of beautiful women were highly popular with audiences of the time, and he produced a large number of works featuring women in various poses and settings. His style was characterized by a graceful use of line, a sensitive handling of color, and a keen sense of composition.
