Kono Bairei (1844-1895) was a Japanese artist known for his paintings of birds and flowers. He was born in Kyoto, Japan and trained under several prominent artists of the time.

Bairei was highly skilled in traditional Japanese painting techniques and is known for his precise brushwork and attention to detail. He often incorporated elements of Western art into his works, such as the use of shading and perspective.

Bairei's works were highly regarded during his lifetime and continue to be admired for their beauty and technical skill. Today, he is considered one of the most important artists of the Meiji period in Japan.
