About

Jean-Baptiste Audebert was a French artist and naturalist who lived from 1759 to 1800. He was particularly interested in the study of monkeys and lemurs, and in 1799 he published a book titled Natural History of Monkeys and Lemurs.

The book was notable for its detailed illustrations, which were created using a combination of observation, dissection, and study of live animals. Audebert's illustrations were particularly notable for their accuracy and attention to detail, and he depicted each species in a lifelike pose with realistic textures and shading.

In addition to the illustrations, Audebert's book also included detailed descriptions of each species of monkey and lemur, including information about their behavior, habitat, and distribution. He also included information about the anatomy and physiology of these animals, as well as their place in the larger context of natural history.

Audebert's work was highly influential in its time and helped to further our understanding of monkeys and lemurs. His illustrations have been reproduced in numerous books and publications, and are still admired today for their scientific accuracy and artistic skill.
