Tsubaki Chinzan (1801-1854) was a prominent Japanese painter and calligrapher of the late Edo period in Japan.

Chinzan was born into a family of samurai in Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and was trained in the traditional arts of painting and calligraphy from a young age. He was particularly skilled in the use of the "Nanga" style of painting, which was influenced by Chinese literati painting and emphasized expressive brushwork and a free, spontaneous style. His calligraphy was also heavily influenced by the Chinese calligraphic tradition, and he was particularly skilled in the use of the "grass script" style of calligraphy.

Throughout his career, Chinzan was a prolific artist and produced a wide variety of works, including landscapes, flowers and birds, and calligraphy. His works were highly regarded during his lifetime and continue to be admired for their technical skill and their ability to capture the essence of nature.
