Yashima Gakutei (1786-1868) was a Japanese artist and printmaker of the late Edo period, known for his exquisite woodblock prints and paintings. He was born in Edo (now Tokyo) and began his career as an apprentice to the printmaker Kikugawa Eizan, before eventually establishing his own independent style.

Gakutei's work is highly regarded for its delicate, refined style and its attention to detail. He was particularly skilled at creating realistic portraits of people, animals, and landscapes, and his prints and paintings often featured detailed depictions of everyday life during the Edo period.

Gakutei was also known for his mastery of a variety of different printing and painting techniques, including the use of gold leaf and other materials to create luxurious and decorative works of art. His work was highly sought after by collectors during his lifetime, and remains highly regarded to this day.
